Module 8's link to http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=2156251 took me to a list of different search sites. I chose http://www.alltheweb.com/, a free search engine, and searched for Library Outreach. This database provided so many images here I couldn’t possibly view them all. This activity was great fun. I am elated to find these image databases! I understand how searching for images is a different skill-set than searching for documents. Concerning Library Outreach or Marketing: it is difficult to convey that type of activity in a still image. I believe it is in the nature of marketing to avoid stagnation. Still images relating back to library outreach or marketing efforts are tied to the context, which is why I've more luck locating library outreach videos than images. A moving picture more readily presents the context indpendently. Three still images are presented below, and some of the surrounding images were also found in the http://www.alltheweb.com/ image database

- Communicating to your community that you value cultural perspectives, promote ESL success, or even simply subscribing to a newspaper from (the patron's) home community will reach more patrons than you might imagine. Once they know you have something to offer, or literature in their language, they usually come back for more. This doesn't just apply to indigenous or immigrant populations. Smaller cultural groups within our society (like Deaf or Blind or Amputee ...) will also benefit from an open access mentality. Deaf patrons share the good news with all their friends that a librarian can sign, or the chair-bound patron will remember that XYZ Branch has the most accessible architecture (etc). I've had great luck employing students from different cultures. Their feedback and perspective contributions have been invaluable.

- Libraries try all sorts of things to entice patrons to access locally held resources. In the case of this comic -draft beer with each check out. While alcohol is not the solution, many libraries are indeed building cafes or annexing coffee shops, and allowing food/drink into the stacks with high hopes of more patrons as a result.

- At the academic level, often the thing that students need most is for the library to reach them, where ever they are. Virtual library services are more popular than ever: distance learning, chat reference, book deliveries, classroom visits, etc. The end result is that we are now bringing the libraries to the students through mobile classrooms and the internet.
